Star-Lord, also known as Peter Jason Quill, is a prominent character in Marvel Comics and a founding member of the superhero team known as the Guardians of the Galaxy. Created by Steve Englehart and Steve Gan, the character made his first appearance in Marvel Preview #4 in 1976. Origin Story (Comics)

Peter Quill was born on Earth to a human mother, Meredith Quill, and an alien father, J'son, the emperor of the Spartoi Empire (or King of Spartax, depending on continuity). After his mother was killed by alien assassins sent by J'son's enemies, Peter grew up in an orphanage and later became a NASA astronaut. During a space mission, he encountered the alien race known as the Ravagers, which changed the course of his life.

Through his adventures, Quill obtained the Element Gun, a weapon capable of controlling air, earth, fire, and water, and took on the mantle of Star-Lord. Over time, he formed alliances with other cosmic heroes and became a key player in defending the galaxy from various threats.

MCU Version

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Star-Lord is a more comedic and relatable character, blending action and humor. His backstory is modified:

• Parentage:
  Peter is the son of Meredith Quill and Ego the Living Planet (played by Kurt Russell in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2), making him half-Celestial.

• Abduction by the Ravagers:
  As a child, Peter is abducted by the Ravagers, led by Yondu Udonta, after his mother's death. Yondu raises him as part of his crew, teaching him thievery and survival.

• Formation of the Guardians:
  While attempting to sell a powerful artifact called the Orb (later revealed to contain the Power Stone), Peter teams up with Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot to save the galaxy. The group becomes the Guardians of the Galaxy.

  Despite his flaws and occasional immaturity, Peter is a natural leader who deeply cares about his friends and the greater good.
